Please use the calendar below to book your free online video consultation. If the calendar does not load please click here. After booking, you will receive an email with the meeting link, and information on what will be discussed. If no suitable times are showing, please get in touch.

I strongly recommend that both the student and a parent/guardian should be present for the consultation, which lasts 20 minutes. Students under 16 cannot attend alone. Students who are 16 and 17 years old need parental consent to attend alone – please see the email sent after booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is discussed in the free consultation session?

Generally, I aim to cover the following:

  • What the student/parent is hoping to achieve from tuition
  • If you have had private tuition before – what worked for you and what didn’t
  • How the student is performing
  • The diagnostic questions I set to understand how the student is performing
  • For GCSE/A Level – Areas of the syllabus the student is finding particularly easy or particularly difficulty
  • For suppercuricular extension and university admissions support – what support the student has already had for this and if they have done any work by themself
  • Pricing of lessons and ways to pay
  • In-person vs online tuition
  • Technology requirements for online tuition
  • Lesson structure

We can also discuss any other queries or questions you might have.

What if there are no slots showing in the calendar?

This means no slots are available in the coming week. You can either check back later or use this contact form to get in touch and arrange a time.

What if I cannot make any of the slots shown in the calendar?

Get in touch using this contact form to arrange an alternative time.

Where does the initial consultation take place?

The consultation takes place via Whereby, an online video conferencing platform. A link will be sent to your email address after your book.

What technology do I need?

You will need a webcam and a microphone. The inbuilt ones on any laptop or tablet should be fine. You do not need to download any software.

How much does the initial consultation cost?

The initial consultation is free, and you are not committed to continuing with tutoring.

I am a student. Can I book a consultation for myself?

If you are under 16, a parent/guardian must book for you and be present throughout the consultation. For students who are 16 or 17 years old, they can attend alone with the consent of a parent/guardian, which can be provided via a form sent after the booking is made.

I am a parent/guardian. Does my child also have to attend the consultation?

I strongly recommend the student attends as well. Having both parent/guardian and child attend means I can better understand the need of the student and gauge their confidence level. If you would like to discuss anything without your child present, we can arrange a separate call as well – use the comments field on the booking form to request this or get in touch using the contact form.
